Workplace integration management
According to Book IX of the German Social Code (SGB IX), employers are obliged to implement workplace integration management if an employee has been unable to work for more than six weeks continuously or repeatedly within a year. This involves working with the employee, the works council/staff council and the company doctor to determine how the incapacity to work can be overcome and what measures can be taken to prevent a recurrence. A further aim is to preserve the employee’s job in the long term.
